Was Friday night special in your house?
I want to know what your family traditions for Friday night Shabbat dinner are or were.

What kinds of foods were served?

What blessings or prayers or other customs did or does you or your family observe?

Share your Shabbat story and help create a guidebook/cookbook for other folks to create a similar space for themselves.

A Year of 52 Shabbats and Looking Forward

It's been a year since I started this blog and project.
I wish I could say I've written and shared more, but I  have been thinking, plotting and conceptualizing.
I just renewed the domain name and I really believe in the concept, so I hope to move forward this next year.
My first step is to post at least once a month a "Shabbat" story with recipes.
If you have one you'd like to share, please let me know.

Shabbat Dinner on May 27

I always forget to post my menu here -- anyway this last shabbat we had spicy tomato soup with bamba surprise, chicken with curry spices and tomatoes and greens, brown basamati rice, chopped salad with veggies and tamarind salad dressing and oranges and dates.  I'll link to the recipes when they post over at Blog Appetit.

What have you had for Shabbat lately?

Dawn's Shabbat Dinner

We had a wonderful shabbat dinner at Dawn's house.  The menu, spice-rubbed roast chicken and chocolate banana bread, has been a staple of hers for 20 plus years. Please read more about it on the post on my general food blog, Blog Appetit.  Do you serve pretty much the same menu or do you like to vary it up?
